ART RESPONDING ACTIVITY: Introducing Wire Sculpting
Preparation:
For teachers: Before coming in, prepare a wire sculpting that you have made to show to the children later on. (Reminder: not only the children will benefit from this activity but also the teachers as you get to experience on how to do wire sculpting! Use the wires to build anything you want or something that will be interesting for the children. |
Materials Needed:

Instructions:
After making your wire sculpting; place it on the table.
Don’t tell the children that you have something to show them; what is it and why is it there;
> let them see it themselves
> let their exploration discover the wire sculpture you made
When the children have seen it;
> Let them SEE, TOUCH, FEEL the wires, Let them explore and be curious on what are the wires for.
> See if they are interested
As they get into much deeper thinking
ask them questions:
“What do you see ?”
“What makes you say that?”
“What caught your attention and why?”

OUTCOME 1: Children will be able to develop their merging autonomy, interdependence, resilience and sense of agency as they will be open to new challenges and discoveries and will approach new safe situations with confidence.
OUTCOME 2: When children are introduced to new things they will have an understanding of the world they live in and will broaden their imagination and they will be able to investigate, project and explore new ideas or knowledge.
OUTCOME 3: Children will be able to recognise the contributions they make to shared projects and experiences.
OUTCOME 4: Children will show increase awareness of their surrounding, will apply generalisations from one situation to another and will transfer knowledge from one setting to another.
OUTCOME 5: They will be able to respond verbally or non verbally to what they see, hear touch, or taste
Children will learn to interact with others to explore ideas, concepts, clarify and challenge thinking negotiate and share new understandings.
Art Making Activity: Bendable Wire Sculpting Activity
Material Needed:
Bendable wires (a much more bendable material for children) |
Notes/Suggestions:
Having a colourful bendable wires will make the children be more interested in what they are making leaving the wire sculpture you've made earlier will inspire on what to do with the bendable wires |
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Give the children different colours of bendable wires
- Let them STRETCH, BEND, MAKE SOMETHING OUT OF IT
- Let them make whatever they want and the children will bring out the creativeness in them.
